Best way to clear Scratch and command line?

How do you quickly clear scratch? And how do you delete the entire line that you entered in the command line?

Apparently the escape key clears the command line of the command you were entering.

Holding ctrl while using backspace deletes an entire word, which is a lot quicker for clearing scratch. Also useful in the command line for changing parameters quickly.
