Intriguing Asset Details
I particularly enjoy h a c k m u d, especially the meta aspects of various locks and the seemingly self-aware AIs in chat.
Simply out of curiosity, I decided to take a peek at some of the asset resources for h a c k m u d to see if there is not some greater mystery waiting to be solved. There are some pretty interesting things in there!
Audio Clips:
Internally, there are 6 (rated 0 through 5) tiers of reward within the game. Within each rarity tier, there are 5 classes of reward. Examples:
Common_Rewards_Rarity0-A
Common_Rewards_Rarity0-B
Common_Rewards_Rarity0-C
Common_Rewards_Rarity0-D
Common_Rewards_Rarity0-E
Common_Rewards_Rarity1-A
and so on...
At this point, I believe "Common" refers only to the generally common nature of the audio clip itself, and it is the Rarity value (ex:0-A) which is associated with the quality of reward.
What this means is that essentially, each of the 6 rarity tiers have 5 sub-tiers within them and sound clips for each!
There are also a plethora of sound clips for the expected events such as errors, keystrokes, etc. As food for thought, the processing sound loop (the one which plays during the delay after entering a command wherein you see >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>) is 3 seconds long.
Ambient Audio:
These are the ambient audio tracks that play more or less all the time. I'm not going to share them, but it is nice having the soundtrack to listen to while coding at work. As soon as the OST is available I intend to throw my money @sean.
For the curious, there appear to be 5 "peaceful" ambient tracks, 2 "hardline" tracks and 1 "intro" track.
Font:
The game appears to contain two fonts, Arial (likely included by default with Unity) and White Rabbit. You can find the font, free, here: http://www.dafont.com/white-rabbit.font
Scanlines:
The scanline effect is produced by layering an 830x552 texture in front of the user camera (scanlines08). An intrepid modder might be able to replace the texture with something else like a flare to accentuate the bent screen.
Mysterious Unnamed Assets:
There are a bunch of these which my extractor didn't seem to be able to identify. Mysterious! But they are probably just Unity IDE assets and not of much interest to us.
